Terms of Service
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Proteo Android application and related services ("Proteo", the "Service"), operated by Proteo App ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
1. The Service
Proteo helps you track protein and nutrition. You can photograph meals, and our AI estimates their ingredients and nutritional content, tracks your goals and streaks, and provides personalized coaching insights. AI estimates are approximations and may be inaccurate; they are provided for informational purposes only.
2. Eligibility & Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use Proteo. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and for all activity that occurs under it. You must provide accurate information when creating your account and keep it up to date.
3. Subscriptions & Auto-Renewal
Some features of Proteo require a paid subscription ("Proteo+"). Subscriptions are purchased through Google Play and are billed to the payment method associated with your Google account.
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually, depending on the plan you choose) unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Billing: Your Google Play account is charged at the price shown when you subscribed (or as updated with notice as required by Google Play).
- Managing & cancelling: You can manage or cancel your subscription in Google Play. Deleting the app does not cancel your subscription.
- Refunds: Payments are processed by Google Play and are governed by its policies. We do not have the ability to issue refunds directly for store purchases.
- Free trials: If a trial is offered in Google Play, any unused portion is forfeited when you purchase a subscription. Trials convert to paid subscriptions unless cancelled before the trial ends.
- Restoring purchases: You can restore an active subscription on a new device using the "Restore purchases" option in the app.
4. Not Medical Advice
Proteo is a wellness and nutrition-tracking tool. It is not a medical device and does not provide medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Nutritional estimates, coaching insights, and goals generated by the Service are for general informational purposes only. Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before making changes to your diet, exercise, or health regimen, especially if you have a medical condition, are pregnant, or have dietary restrictions. Never disregard professional medical advice because of something you read in Proteo.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
- Upload content that is illegal, harmful, infringing, or that you do not have the right to share.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service, other users' accounts, or our systems.
- Reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or copy the Service or its content, or use automated tools to access it.
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service, including circumventing usage limits or subscription entitlements.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service without our written permission.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
6. Your Content
You retain ownership of the photos and information you submit to Proteo. By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, and display that content solely to operate and provide the Service to you (including AI analysis as described in our Privacy Policy). You are responsible for the content you upload.
7. Intellectual Property
The Service, including its software, design, branding, and content (excluding your content), is owned by us or our licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these Terms.
8. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that AI-generated estimates will be accurate or complete.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve months preceding the claim (or USD $50 if you have not paid anything). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
10. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from the Profile tab in the app. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination will survive.
11. Changes to the Service or Terms
We may modify the Service or these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will post the updated Terms on this page and update the "Last updated" date. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
12. Privacy
Our collection and use of your information is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
